WebSphere Process Server Failed Event Manager: “The Recovery Sub-system is disabled.”

When looking in the top right corner of the Failed Event Manager, the following error is displayed:

The Recovery sub-system is disabled. Enable the Recovery sub-system in order to work with failed events.

You get directed to the following tech-note:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21293460

which states that there is a problem with the Failed Event Manager MBean in your server/cluster.

Interestingly, when the failed event manager EAR is installed manually (or via script) in 6.0.2.x the MBeans are not automatically installed for you. You have to go back to your server configuration and configure them manually. When you create a profile using the profile creation wizard, everything is fine.

  1. I have also seen this happen after resubmitting large batches of failed events. The first 2 batches of 1000 worked but when a third was resubmitted, it failed and the message “The Recovery Sub-system is disabled” showed up. Restart time!

  2. Hi Chris,

First off, happy new year 🙂 Hope your servers are holding up on the other side of the pond.. It’s concerning that you can get that error when you already have the MBeans installed on a server (ie, this error can be more than just a mis-configuration).

  3. Hi,
I am facing a similar issue. My version of WPS is 6.1.2.1.
I tried with latest version of wpsFEMgr.ear (v6.1.2) also, but no luck. Please help me in getting this fixed.
    Appreacite your support…

  4. Hi,
I am here again with a new issue:

I have created a mediation module using WID 6.1.2.2. I am using a import componente using HTTP binding (bytes). When i perform a HTTP post to the target url, i get the following error:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Class ‘ListDealersRequestMsgType’ does not have a feature named ‘value’
    at org.eclipse.emf.ecore.sdo.util.SDOUtil$Accessor.setFeatureName(SDOUtil.java:891)

I have seen some of the explanation on the above error in the below link:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=203&q1=does+not+have+a+feature+named+%27value%27&uid=swg21259496&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

but i dont know how to implement. Moreover the above issue is for Software version: 6.0.2, 6.0.2.1.

Kindly let me know how to fix this.
    Appreciate your help!!!

  5. Hello,

If there is any failure of aysnchronous call of service or system , then messages will be put into Failed Event manager.
Do the WebSphere Server will send or communicate the information to administrator or any users?. Do we can setup on WebSphere Process Server?. Please let me know.

    Thanks
    Anand
